Naper Settlement brings back School’s Day Out programs

Children in grades 1-5 will enjoy their day off school having fun in these all-new programs where they can explore science, spies and the environment.
Fizzy, Gooey, Soaring Science
Monday, January 21
Take science to the next level with experiments that are a blast! Join Naper Settlement to become a kitchen chemist and learn to make ice cream. Explore how things float and how static electricity makes your hair stand on end. Turn a film canister into a rocket and even make slime to take home.
Breaking the Code
Monday, February 18
Discover the hidden symbols on currency, go undercover to learn the secrets used by spies throughout history and write your own secret messages using codes and invisible ink. Take our spy challenge to test your espionage skills.
Every Day is Earth Day
Friday, March 1
Learn about the environment and how you can reduce, reuse and recycle ordinary items into unique works of art, useful objects and home décor. Discover how the museum’s rain gardens help the environment and test your own creation to see if you can clean water. Make your own notebook out of recycled goods. Create your own Soil Sammy to take home with you.
