2016 School’s Out Day Camps

Girl shooting off rocket outside - WinterChildren in grades 1-5 will enjoy their day off school having fun in these all-new programs!

Messy, Mad Science
Monday, February 15

Making a mess is generally frowned upon, but here we will experiment with everything from slime to silly putty to gaseous compounds of foaming, fizzing and bubbling explosions! Some of the hands-on experiments will get grubby, so be sure to wear your lab coat (or old clothes you don’t mind getting dirty in the name of learning).

  • Delve into the world of slime and gak to create Galaxy Slime
  • Create homemade silly putty to bounce, stretch and copy
  • Explore chemical reactions and turn film canisters into rockets

Imaginarium
Friday, March 4
It's time to think of the box and let your imagination run wild! Join us as we become art-scientists and junior engineers. Cooking and concoctions are all science, too!

  • Inspect the elements of structure as you build and test toothpick towers
  • Make your own sundial as you discover what the universe has to do with telling time
  • Mix and measure different ingredients to create your very own dessert bars

Artful Antics
Wednesday, March 30

Reach beyond the ordinary and create art that is uniquely YOU! Express your creativity as we experiment with different techniques in multiple art forms.

  • Repurpose old crayons and turn duct tape into a masterpiece
  • Cut and paste to make expressive collages using recycled magazines and newspapers
  • Design and mold a coil pot using Native American techniques
